The best variety is known as SHG – which means coffee grown on high-altitude plantations, at 1200 meters above sea level. As in Guatemala and Costa Rica, coffee here is classified by altitude – the higher, the better the quality.

Medium roast gives the coffee notes of honey and chocolate.
Salvadoran coffee is typical of Central America – light in structure, aromatic, fragrant, slightly sweet, balanced, and low in acidity.
